The English Country Course: individual residential courses, as effective as a full-immersion abroad!

Over the years I have acquired the firm belief that, potentially, all students are able to acquire the language skills needed to move confidently in the English-speaking world. It’s just about accepting the challenge. My English courses can be tailored to individual needs: simplified or enriched to make them relevant and meaningful for everyone Today I offer online courses and above all residential courses in my panoramic country house in the Ligurian hinterland, where the setting of meadows, woods and hills helps to create a relaxed and serene atmosphere, congenial to rapid and profound learning.

Who are the residential courses for?

  • For professionals with a busy schedule

    who want to perfect their ability to converse and/or write in English, to increase their skills or simply to prepare for a meeting or a trip. When carving out time to study within normal working days proves too tiring and stressful, an immersive weekend with a native speaker teacher represents the most effective solution: you learn a lot and, at the same time, you “switch off” in a relaxing environment, surrounded by nature..

  • For those who want to train or improve their English conversation

    a full-immersion of a few days allows you to clarify any uncertainty and recharge mentally and physically with all that the area has to offer: walks in nature, relaxation, culture and for those who wish a bit of night-life by the sea: Sestri Levante hosts clubs and events.

  • For those who want to train or improve their English conversation

    and spend a few days in an English-speaking context – also in view of forthcoming trips – leaving aside the grammar books to devote oneself instead to more relaxing and engaging activities, to be decided upon from time to time according to one’s own interests: sightseeing, walks, shopping, gastronomic itineraries or simple chats, perhaps over a good Ligurian focaccia or, why not, some Irish specialities.

A typical English full-immersion weekend

Friday evening::
The arrival is followed by a dinner together in some local eatery

Saturday: 
–  9.30 Breakfast
– 10.00-12.30  Educational activity
– 13.00-14.00  A light lunch and relaxation
– 15.00-18.30  Afternoon activities, to be agreed with the student
– 18.30 Rest and free time
– 20.00 Dinner

Sunday: 
– 9.30 Breakfast
– 10.00-13.00 Educational activity
– 14.00    Lunch and relaxation
– 15.30-18.30 Afternoon activities, to be agreed with the student

The full immersion usually lasts two days (even midweek) but they can be agreed upon for different durations.

Rates

Depending on individual requirements, prices vary from 300 – 400 euro per day

The price includes accommodation, breakfast, main meals (a light lunch and dinner at home or in a pizzeria) and 6 hours of lessons per day. Nothing extra will be charged for all the free time spent conversing together in English.

Materials

For students particularly interested in grammar, I highly recommend getting Raymond Murphy’s book, English Grammar in Use (for your level of English).
