Carro and surroundings

Carro is the village in the Val di Vara which gave birth to the family of Niccolò Paganini; here the musician often spent the summer months and his house can still be visited today. The 15th century church is also splendid. The town is located in a panoramic position and is surrounded by meadows, mixed woods and chestnut groves, crossed by paths and trekking routes. From Casa Ferry (Ballycarru house) a short path starts that goes down to a stream. In the summer months, the Municipality of Carro hosts various events and concerts and also offers a free shuttle service to the Deiva Marina beach, where the train station is also located for reaching other Ligurian towns and beaches.

Varese Ligure

What to do

The English course can represent a stage within a longer journey, perhaps to discover the Cinque Terre National Park or Tuscany, but it only takes a few minutes by car or bus to reach many Ligurian jewels that few know, such as the historic center of Brugnato, which also boast excellent trattorias, as well as an outlet for shopping.
A short trip along the Val di Vara leads to Varese Ligure, included in the list of the most beautiful villages in Italy. Those traveling with children will find paths, swimming pools, beaches and even an adventure park in the surrounding area! Excursions aside, the house is surrounded by a large private garden which includes a lawn, an apple orchard and a shaded area under chestnut trees, all available to guests who wish to relax on a deck chair or on a large towel, in the peace of nature.
In the evening you can dine at home or on the patio (guests have a large equipped kitchen at their disposal), in the many trattorias and pizzerias in the area or in the seaside restaurants. Before going back to your room, it is worth stopping in front of you to look at the sky which, far from the plains and the cities, offers surprising starry lit skies.

How to reach Carro

Coming from Genoa on the A12 motorway
take the Carrodano-Levanto exit and follow the signs for Sesta Godano.

Coming from Parma on the A15 motorway
Take the Brugnato exit and follow the signs for Sesta Godano. Continue along the provincial road 566, always following the signs for Sesta Godano.

Once you reach Ponte Santo Margherita, turn onto the provincial road 50 towards Carro, which is 6km away from here. Casa Ferry is located at the entrance to the town: after the ”Carro” sign, take the first road on the left and enter the property from the second gate on the left.
